Cold Weather Guidelines for Elementary

It is the District’s policy that during cold weather, the decision for outside recess and activities will be based on weather as listed on the website for the Mizzou weather station in Moscow Mills, MO. If the air temperature or wind chill is 20°F or lower, no outdoor activities or outdoor recess will be held.  Indoor recess will be available to students.

Extremely cold weather can be very dangerous. Parents and guardians should be certain that their children are appropriately clothed with mittens, hats, coats, etc., so they can be comfortable both inside and outside. Most days your student is going outside for some period of time either at recess or traveling to/from school. 

If it is less than 45 degrees outside each student will need a coat in order to go outside. This will need to be something other than a hoodie that they take off when they come inside the building. Please make sure you pay attention to the weather, even though it may get up to 60 degrees, your student may have recess before that!!
